My surgery on May 21st went well. It was quick and painless. And may I just say that anasthesia is so cool! One minute you're awake, wondering when you'll fall asleep and the next its all over with. It seems like just 30 seconds in my mind, but it was really more like an hour. My little 1cm polyp is gone - and we even got pictures to prove it.
So now we're starting over, it seems. The doctor told us to call the office in one week to let them know how I was doing (so I wouldn't have to make the 2 hour drive for a post-op appointment), to check on the pathology report, to figure out when to start birth control again, and to find out if we would start our IVF cycle (again) in June or in July.
I called the office on Friday to let them know that I felt fantastic. It was like I didn't even have surgery - no pain, no bleeding. The worst part was the big ol' bruise where they stuck me with the IV the first time. The nurse was digging for buried treasure in my right hand. Then she gave up and nurse #2 started digging in my left wrist. Then nurse #3 slipped the IV in my left hand, no problem. Why couldn't they give me nurse #3 the first time!?
The office told me that the polyp was cancer free and we're good to go with IVF. They couldn't squeeze us in for June IVF, so now we have to wait for July. A long wait. Anyway, I started BCP again today. I'm on a different brand than I was before, so hopefully I won't have that breakthrough, midcycle bleeding stuff. Annoying. The office will call me next week to give me the specific IVF schedule.
It is Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer, and I love this time of year. So even though I have to wait for late July to do IVF, I don't want it to get here too fast, because I want to enjoy the next 6 weeks - slowly.
Glad that surgery went well and you are ready to begin IVF this summer. Praying that you get a BFP!
