It's a Girl!

It's a girl!  Ok, maybe she doesn't have my DNA.  Maybe she doesn't have any arms, but has 4 legs instead.  Maybe she's a little hairy.  Maybe she's not a human girl, but she is actually a bitch - a female dog, that is!

My husband and I have been thinking about getting a second dog.  Our hesitation has mostly been because our dog, Morgan, is about as perfect as you can get.  She's [mostly] trained (potty and otherwise), but can be a handful at times.  Why mess with that?  Also, if we ever do get pregnant would 2 dogs be too much to handle in our little house?  Not sure.

Anyway, DH went to a friends house to watch the Husker game (imagine that!).  By halftime, he had texted me a picture of a dog.  He called to ask if I wanted her.  They call her 'Shorty'.  She's a one year old, Corgi-Chihuahua mix about 10lbs or so.  Not potty-trained.  The friend said that they rescued her when she was less than 10 weeks old from an abusive home.  Now, she is not getting the attention she deserves in a house with 3 other dogs and several children.  If we wanted her, she was ours.  No charge.  We could even give it a 'test run' and if we decide we don't want her, we can give her back.

So, needless to say, DH brought 'Shorty' home.  She hasn't been here 24 hours yet, but has already made herself at home.  She has been playing and fighting with Morgan for the prime real estate on my lap, and she has pissed once on my newly shampooed carpet (after Morgan basically destroyed it and I felt comfortable enough getting it professionally cleaned).   She is a very good dog and so well behaved so far.  Still not sure if we'll keep her for the long haul, but we'll definitely enjoy her company through the Thanksgiving weekend.

  4. Yay for more puppies! We got dog #2 to foster this weekend and I am already in love (add her to our 3 cats and one dog!). I think I keep placing 4-legged "kids" in the hole I have from not having a 2-legged kid.
